About Us
A J Institute of Engineering & Technology (AJIET) is a prestigious institution promoted by the Laxmi Memorial Education Trust®, established in 1991 in memory of the late Laxmi Shetty, the mother of Dr. A. J. Shetty, who serves as the President and Managing Director of the Trust. Since its inception in 2016, AJIET has proudly seen five batches of students graduate. We are delighted to say that we now have more than 1,500 alumni in our network.

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION MEMBERS LIST – 2023-24
NAME:The name of the Association is THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF AJIET Kottara Chowki Mangalore - 575006.
MEMBERSHIPSHIP:
- Membership shall be open to all former students of AJIET, Kottara Chowki, Mangalore-575006.
- All present members of the staff of the college shall be Honorary members of the Association and shall enjoy all the rights of Ordinary members.
MANAGEMENT:
- The team of the Association shall be managed by a governing body called the Executive Committee.
- It shall consist of 17 members. Of the 17 members, 15 shall be elected members and 2 shall be the current Principal and faculty of the college. The principal and the Senior faculty member shall be chairman and Vice-chairman of the Association respectively.

CONSTITUTION AND BYE LAWS OF THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
NAME:The name of the Association is THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF AJIET Kottara Chowki Mangalore - 575006.
LOCATION:The Association shall be situated at the premises of AJIET Kottara Chowki Mangalore-575006.
OBJECTIVES:The objectives of the Association are as follows:
- To bring into union of all ex-student’s of AJIET Mangalore.
- To perpetuate their interest and connection with their ‘Alma Mater’.
- To conduct technical talk, workshop and programs in various disciplines.
- To facilitate study materials for deserving and under privileged students.
- To establish awards, scholarship for the purpose of developing talents in students.
- To receive donations, grants etc. from well-wishers and organization.
- To promote any other object of general interest and usefulness connected with college.
- To provide support, mentorship, and resources to current students, such as scholarships,internships, and career guidance.
PATRON:The patron-in-Chief of the Association shall be The Principal of the AJIET, Kottara Chowki, Mangalore-575006.
MEMBERSHIPSHIP:
- Membership shall be open to all former students of AJIET, Kottara Chowki, Mangalore-575006.
- All present members of the staff of the college shall be Honorary members of the Association and shall enjoy all the rights of Ordinary members.
- The Life membership fee of the Association will be a sum of Rs. 500/- (Rupees five hundred only).
FINANCIAL YEAR:The financial year shall commence on the first day of August every year and close on the 31 st day of July of the succeeding year.
MANAGEMENT:
- The team of the Association shall be managed by a governing body called the Executive Committee.
- It shall consist of 17 members. Of the 17 members, 15 shall be elected members and 2 shall be the current Principal and faculty of the college. The principal and the Senior faculty member shall be chairman and Vice-chairman of the Association respectively.
- All the members of the Executive Committee except the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman shall be elected each year at the Annual General Meeting of the Association and shall hold office till the next Annual General Meeting.
- The General Body at its Annual General meeting shall elect a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer and Ten Executive Committee Members.
- In the event of the Annual General Meeting not being called within six months from the end of the financial year, the executive committee that stand dissolved. In such an event the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman shall constitute the Executive Committee within a period of ninety days there from.
- The members shall have a right to convene a General meeting by sending a notice in writing to the President fifteen days in advance of the scheduled meeting date. However, this meeting shall be convened on the requisition of at least 50 members.
- In the event of the registration, bankruptcy, disqualification or death of a member of the Executive Committee, the Committee is empowered to appoint replacement from among the members of the Association and to appoint ad-hoc and sub-committees, as and when necessary. But in all such sub-committees, the Secretary and president shall be ex-officio members.
- The executive committee shall meet at least once in three months. By default, a meeting can be called on a requisition by at least 4 members of the executive committee. Absence of a member from 3 consecutive meetings without justifiable cause notified to the Secretary shall disqualify him from the membership of the Executive Committee.
- All the post of the Executive Committee and any other committee shall be honorary.
POWERS OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:
- The Executive Committee shall be empowered to do acts and things in their discretion on behalf of the Association and as directed by the General body.
- In matters of finance, however, the Executive Committee shall consult the President/Secretary/Joint-Secretary/Treasurer and Chairman or Vice-Chairman before taking a decision.
- All properties of the Association shall stand in the name of The Principal of AJIET, Kottara Chowki, Mangalore. The Bank account, however shall stand in the name of the Association to be operated jointly by chairman and President of the association.
GENERAL MEETINGS:
- The Annual General Meeting of the Association shall be held every year within six months from the end of the Financial Year i.e. 31 st July of the calendar year. The Annual General Meeting shall interlay transact the following business:
- To present and adopt the annual report.
- To present and adopt the audited accounts.
- Appointment of Auditors.
- Election of the Executive Committee.
- An extra-ordinary or special general meeting of the Association may be held at the discretion of the Executive Committee, or on the requisition in writing of not less than fifty members of the Association.
- Notice of every General Meeting shall be issued by the Secretary not less than twenty-one days before the date appointed thereof, to every member of the Association.
SECRETARY:
- Tenue: The term of the Secretary shall be one year and he/she shall be eligible for re-election for one more year. No member shall hold the office of the secretary for more than ten consecutive years.
- The Secretary shall carry out the directions of the executive Committee and generally maintain communications with the past students of the College. Maintain correspondence, and records and collect subscriptions on behalf of the Association. He shall present at each Annual General Meeting n annual report of the activities of the Association for that financial year.
TREASURER:
- Tenure: The term of the Treasurer shall be two year and he/she shall be eligible for re-election for one more year. No member shall hold the office of the secretary for more than ten consecutive years.
- The Treasurer shall receive all subscriptions and acknowledge receipt thereof through the Secretary. He shall maintain the accounts of the Association separate from any other account.
The treasurer shall present at the time of the annual general meeting audited statement of accounts of all the money received and expanded by the association drawn up to the 31 st of July of the year, along with a Balance sheet.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
- Tenue: The term of a member of the executive committee shall be two year and he shall be eligible for re-election for the next four years. No executive committee member may hold office for more than five consecutive years.
ALTERATION:
The Constitution and bye-laws enshrined herein or deleted shall not be altered in any manner whatsoever expect at the General Meeting of the Association, wherein a resolution to that effect has been passed by not less than TWO THIRDS OF THE MEMBERS PRESENT AD VOTING. The Executive committee shall have the rights to regulate their own work.
“Hands-on workshop on design of drone parts using Fusion 360.” by Mr. Abhilash A S - TAFE, Bangalore on 08/06/2024
The hands-on workshop on the design of drone parts using Fusion 360 was conducted with the aim of providing participants with practical skills in designing components for drones using CAD software. The workshop focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to create drone parts from scratch, emphasizing key concepts in CAD design and their application in the context of drone technology. 42 Students took part in the workshop.
The Alumni Meet 2024 was held on May 4, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM in MMM Lab. The meeting began with a welcome address from the Head of Department (HOD) to the alumni, teaching, and non-teaching staff members.
The HOD highlighted the institution's holistic educational approach, emphasizing both academic excellence and overall student development. He stressed the importance of continuous learning and technical advancements for personal and professional growth.
Alumni Meet -2024
The Alumni Meet 2024 was held on May 4, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM in Computing Lab A 324. The meeting began with a welcome address from the Head of Department (HOD) to the alumni, teaching, and non-teaching staff members.
The HOD highlighted the institution's holistic educational approach, emphasizing both academic excellence and overall student development. He stressed the importance of continuous learning and technical advancements for personal and professional growth.
Dr. Chanchal Antony spoke about the value of alumni interaction, explaining how ongoing engagement offers guidance, networking opportunities, and real-world insights, benefiting current students' growth and success.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Snitha Shetty. 40 students were present in the program.
Alumni Meet – 2016 - 2020
Mechanical Department, A.J. Engineering College, Mangalore organized an alumni meet at the department level. A total of 20 alumni attended the meet on February 19, 2021. The event was held to celebrate their successes and achievements, featuring various programs.
"The event was stimulating and enjoyable, and simultaneously productive, as all members shared their views and numerous new ideas, information, and insights emerged. The association is hopeful to successfully structure and position itself as a fully functional global platform for AJIET alumni. The Alumni Association sincerely expressed its gratitude to the honorable HOD, Dr. Rajesh Rai P, for his guidance and support in making this event a grand success."
Alumni Interaction Series by Ms. Meghana Shetty of 2016-20 batch, Ribbons Communications Organized by Alumni Association on 19.02.2022
The aim of the alumni interaction was to create awareness about the latest technology used in the industry and to prepare students for it. Meghana Shetty shared her experiences as a student and as an employee with second-year ECE students. She started her presentation by discussing different career options available for electronics students.
She explained the importance of each ECE subject and the kind of preparation required for interviews. Meghana also spoke about the significance of mini projects, major projects, and internships in the field.
Students interacted with Meghana about the preparation needed for hardware and software companies and discussed how to select companies for internships.
Ethics for professional engineers and how to develop teamwork knowledge and Skillset by Ms. Shahala Sheikh, Software Test Engineer Automation, Wipro Ltd., Middle East on
The talk was conducted to provide knowledge and skills vital to society. Professional engineers are regulated by ethical standards above and beyond laws and personal morals. The talk also encouraged students to learn more about professional engineering societies. It was useful for enhancing human welfare and motivated students to increase the competence and prestige of the engineering profession. Through this event, students were inspired to function effectively as members of interdisciplinary teams.
Alumni Talk by Chirag Poonja (2017-2021) Batch student on 19-1-2022, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
The Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted Alumni Talk by Mr. Chirag Poonja (2017-2021) on 19th January 2022 for the 4th year Mechanical Branch students. Chirag is working as HR in Groww Technology. He shared his experiences about college days and importance of subjects in Mechanical Engineering.
He discussed about building of Industry contacts and also the need of individual portfolio to approach for jobs in media. He interacted with the students about the need and expectations of Industry. And also advised students to get trained in professional courses and utilize this pandemic period for earning more knowledge and update technical skills to get into the industry. The session was very informative and interactive for the students.
